Clopidogrel is a blood thinner or antiplatlet medication. It thins the blood by preventing platlets from clumping together (aggregating) and forming blood cots. It is used to prevent heart attacks and strokes in patients with heart disease, recent heart attack or stroke, or blood circulation disease. It can also be used in combination with aspirin to treat new or worsening chest pain from recent heart attack or unstable angina.

The most common side effects of clopidogrel include: easy bleeding/brusing, stomach upset/pain, headaches, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation. Consult with your doctor immediately if any of these become serious or if you experience any bleeding that won’t resolve.
